Services and Fees

All visits with the doctor start at just $45.  We don't charge an initial exam fee or a re-exam fee.  Kinesiology taping is $5 per application.  Consultations over the phone or to meet the doctor to see if we can help you are free.

The initial exam is scheduled for 60 minutes to complete the exam and initiate treatment. Follow-up visits are scheduled for 30 minutes for treatment or rehab.

At each visit, you and the doctor will work on exactly what you need.  Whether it's time spent evaluating your issues to get to the root of the problem, or chiropractic adjustments and soft-tissue therapy, or no adjustments at all and a lot of soft tissue therapy, each visit is tailored to your needs and what will get you better faster.   Here's a list of things you can expect at your visits at Unity Chiropractic & Rehab.

Proper Assessment

In order to treat the problem, we need to know what the problem is.  We take the time to properly examine and assess your health problems with a thorough history, orthopedic tests, and protocols from the Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) to accurately diagnose your conditions so they can be managed safely and effectively.

Patient Education

We encourage you to completely understand what's going on with your body and health conditions. That's why we educate you on what the problem is, what caused it, how fix it, how to heal it, and how to prevent it.  Knowledge about your health in everyday life is vital your recovery and prevention.

Specific Chiropractic Adjustments

Chiropractic adjustments are not one-size-fits-all.  Each chiropractic adjustment is tailored to your specific needs and preferences from the technique used to how gentle the adjustment is delivered.  Some of the most common techniques we use are diversified techniques, drop-table, activator and other low force adjustments. Our sports chiropractors are also well trained to adjust more than just the neck and back including ribs, hips, knees, ankles, feet, shoulders, elbow and wrists.

Active Release Technique (ART)

Active release technique (ART) treats your body's soft tissue by combining manipulation and movement.  ART entails identifying, isolating, and targeting the affected area to break up scar tissue. This promotes blood flow and faster healing of injuries. ART treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions treated with ART. These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles.

IASTM

Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) is a manual therapy technique used in the treatment of acute and chronic soft tissue injuries. IASTM assists in reducing adhesions, increase healing rates of targeted tissue.  There are both mechanical and neurological approaches to IASTM treatments. Being trained in several IASTM techniques including Graston technique, Gua-Sha and Rockblades, our doctors tailor your IASTM treatments to your needs and efficacy. The tools may be hard-edged, but the techniques don’t need to be aggressive to deliver superior patient outcomes.

Soft-Tissue Therapy

There are countless techniques used in treating soft tissue.  From myofascial-release techniques like muscle flossing to proprioceptive-neuromuscular-facilitation (PNF) stretching, our sports chiropractors are well experienced in many of these techniques, providing you even more tools to help you recover and become healthier and stronger.

Spinal Mechaical Traction

Spinal traction is a form of decompression therapy that relieves pressure on the spine, discs and facet joints.  We use a Leander Table to provide gentle traction for instant feedback and modification throughout treatment.  Spinal traction is commonly used to treat herniated discs, sciatica, degenerative disc disease, pinched nerves, facet syndrome, and many other back conditions.

Rehabilitative & Corrective Exercises

It's not easy to know which exercises or stretches you should be doing or avoiding.  Part of our treatment protocols are prescribing you exercises and reviewing them with you to make sure you are performing them safely and correctly. Some exercises and stretches might be prescribed to strengthen or rebalance your body to help you recover, while others might be prescribed to help you balance lifestyle habits such as desk posture or cycling.

Kinesiology Tape / Rocktape

Kinesiology tape can be applied in many different ways depending on the target therapeutic outcome.  It can reduce pain, decompress swelling and inflammation, increase endurance and delay fatigue, normalize muscle tone, and distribute physical stress. It is usually applied at the end of your visit if you and the doctor decide it will helpful, and can stay on your body for up to 7 days.

Co-management of Treatment

If you are working with another health professional, we welcome an open communication with them so that we can all get on the same page about your care.  Whether it's a personal trainer, physical therapist, massage therapist, acupuncturist, medical doctor, naturopath or another chiropractor, we can all work together to give you the best outcome of your care and recovery.

Referral for Imaging

Like most clinics, we don't have an X-ray, MRI, or lab.  However, if the doctor decides you need special imaging or tests, we have several imaging centers and labs throughout the Bay Area for you to go to.  We'll get the results sent directly to our clinic and review them with you at your visit.

Doctor Referral

Some conditions or procedures are outside of the scope of chiropractic or may benefit from being co-managed with a specialist to supplement your chiropractic care.  If we think you should be seen by another doctor or health professional, we'll provide you with a referral.
